The crew of the MONJASA REFORMER is made up of 16 sailors of different nationalities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This information is relayed by the Maritime Domain Awareness for Trade Gulf of Guinea (MDAT GoG), located in Brest and Portsmouth (Great Britain).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rallying the last known position of the tanker, the French Navy&#8217;s Offshore Patrol Vessel\u00a0Premier Ma\u00eetre L&#8217;Her, engaged in Operation Corymbe, conducted a search for the vessel in the north-east of the Gulf of Guinea, with the support of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Monrovia, as well as the support of the region&#8217;s navies, and MDAT-GoG, which ensures the link with the vessel&#8217;s owner.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10722 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1258\" height=\"708\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-4.jpg 1258w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-4-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-4-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-4-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1258px) 100vw, 1258px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Thursday 30 March, in the early afternoon, Offshore Patrol Vessel Premier Ma\u00eetre L&#8217;Her relocated the MONJASA REFORMER on its way to Nigeria during a flight of her aerial drone and noticed the presence of a pirate boat alongside the ship. On CECLANT&#8217;s orders, it begins its approach. A new reconnaissance flight shows that the pirate boat is no longer alongside.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the early evening, he received a distress message from the MONJASA REFORMER via VHF16. The crew still on board indicated that six of its members had been kidnapped by pirates. Immediately, OPV\u00a0PM L\u2019Her began a manoeuvre to rescue the ship.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The order was given to take his visiting team, including a nurse and a doctor, on board the MONJASA REFORMER. This operation was conducted in liaison with the Nigerian authorities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10723 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1252\" height=\"705\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-7.jpg 1252w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-7-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-7-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/20230331_MONJASA-7-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1252px) 100vw, 1252px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the end of the evening, an initial medical assessment was carried out and transmitted to the shipowner. Three slightly injured people were taken care of by the doctor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The next morning, the Nigerian patrol vessel NNS Gongola arrived on site. They contribute to the reduction of maritime insecurity, in partnership with the coastal navies and the centres of the structure resulting from the Yaound\u00e9 process.
