Plans are underway for Kenya Ports Authority to develop a passenger terminal to support lake transport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With a capacity to handle up to 300,000 metric tons of cargo, the Port of Kisumu has registered increased cargo volumes since its rehabilitation in 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From January 2023 to July 2023, the Port handled a cumulative 60,910 metric tons of cargo; an increase of 33,662.2 tons on cumulative cargo throughput compared to similar period in 2022, representing a 55.3% growth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source
