On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, a significant step was taken in support of artisanal fishing in Guinea Conakry, with the signing of an agreement to make inputs and equipment available to the Conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration Nationale des Professionnels de la P\u00eache (CNPP).<\/p>\n

The signing ceremony, presided over by Mrs Charlotte Daff\u00e9 TOURE, Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy of Guinea Conakry, marked an important milestone in the Guinean government’s commitment to this vital sector of its economy.<\/p>\n

The ceremony, which took place at the CNSP, was attended by a number of key figures, including the Chef de Cabinet of the Governorate of Conakry and the Mayor of the Commune of Matam, as well as representatives of all the socio-professional organizations in the fishing sector.<\/p>\n

A wide range of equipment was made available under the agreement, including regulation nylon netting, rolls of rope, packs of hooks, rolls of line spools and 08 HP, 15 HP and 40 HP outboard motors. This equipment is essential to strengthen the capacities of artisanal fishermen and contribute to the sustainability of their practices.<\/p>\n

Madame Minister emphasized that this initiative, the first of its kind, is part of the Programme d’Appui \u00e0 la P\u00eache Artisanale de Guin\u00e9e, fully financed by the government through the National Development Budget.<\/p>\n

Taking the floor, Mr. Sory Doumbouya, President of CONAPEG, and El hadj MORLAYE FOTE SOUMAH, on behalf of all those involved in artisanal fishing in Guinea, paid a vibrant tribute to H.E. General de Corps d’Arm\u00e9e Mamadi DOUMBOUYA, President of the Republic, Head of State, and to his government, for their attention and support to those involved in the rural world.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the implementation of this regulatory equipment will have a dual impact: firstly, it will effectively combat the use, import, manufacture, sale and possession of mono-filament nets, and secondly, it will help increase the productivity of artisanal fishermen. This initiative testifies to Guinea’s commitment to promoting sustainable artisanal fishing and preserving marine resources for future generations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
