{"id":13927,"date":"2024-06-24T04:45:03","date_gmt":"2024-06-24T03:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/?p=13927"},"modified":"2024-06-24T04:45:42","modified_gmt":"2024-06-24T03:45:42","slug":"transnet-institutes-disciplinary-action-against-tnpa-chief-executive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/transnet-institutes-disciplinary-action-against-tnpa-chief-executive\/","title":{"rendered":"Transnet institutes disciplinary action against TNPA Chief Executive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Transet.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12554 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Transet.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1620\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Transet.jpeg 1620w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Transet-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Transet-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Transet-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Transet-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">State ports and freight logistics company Transnet has instituted disciplinary action against Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) Chief Executive Pepi Silinga and some managers following investigations at the company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Transnet had appointed Bowmans attorneys to investigate what it described as allegations of impropriety at TNPA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTransnet also appointed Bowmans to assist with implementing the recommendations of a forensic report by Fundudzi Investigators which considered the award of a tender for the multi-purpose terminal at the Port of Ngqura,\u201d Transnet said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The state-owned company said investigations have now been completed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn a meeting held on 21 June 2024 and based on legal advice and the recommendations from the investigations, Transnet\u2019s Board of Directors and the TNPA Board agreed to issue disciplinary charges against TNPA Chief Executive Mr Pepi Silinga.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOn the same day, Transnet also instituted disciplinary charges against managers implicated in the Fundudzi report and other managers at TNPA implicated in acts of impropriety. External independent chairpersons have been appointed to chair all disciplinary proceedings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTransnet will ensure this matter is dealt with swiftly and with the necessary sensitivity.
