The visit aimed to monitor the refurbishment&#8217;s progress and address challenges encountered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the inspection, General Manager of Banjul Ship yard, Buba Njie provided detailed insights into the project. Significant structural issues such as extensive rust and weakened iron components were identified, primarily attributed to prolonged exposure to saltwater. The shipyard is fully staffed with adequate manpower, including nine skilled welders under the supervision of a foreman, to ensure the project&#8217;s efficiency. Operations are in full swing, with continuous work carried out on dual shifts since commencement in May, supplemented by additional contractors and ample stock of required metal plates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Minister Sillah emphasized transparency in updating the public on progress and changes to the ferry&#8217;s operations. He underscored the importance of engaging Gambian manufacturers, welders, and engineers in the renovation process to bolster local expertise and expedite completion. Further expressed satisfaction with the professionalism demonstrated by the shipyard team and reaffirmed the government&#8217;s commitment to ensuring the safe and timely return of the Kanilai Ferry
