Cape Verdean Prime Minister Jos\u00e9 Ulisses Correia e Silva presided over the signing of the contract for the second phase of extension and modernization works of the Port of Palmeira on the afternoon of Thursday, September 26, 2024, representing an investment of 10 million euros.<\/p>\n

\n

“This is another major investment on the island of Sal. If we add the 20 million from the first phase, we are talking about an investment of 30 million euros. A very important investment,” said the head of government.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

With this project, the port of Palmeira will benefit from a deep and comprehensive rehabilitation and redevelopment of its land facilities. It will be equipped with a passenger terminal, a container park, the ENAPOR administrative building, lighting, and accessibility.<\/p>\n

“The project also includes another externality, namely the construction of the Palmeira high school,” announced Ulisses Correia e Silva.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The investment in the Port of Palmeira is part of a framework of investments in Cape Verde’s ports and port services, which includes the Port of Maio, the fishing port of Tarrafal de S. Nicolau, already completed, followed by investment in the island’s commercial port, improvements in the port of Praia, the Mindelo Cruise Terminal nearing completion, the expansion and modernization of Porto Grande de Mindelo for transshipment operations, and the expansion and adaptation of the Porto Novo maritime port intended to accommodate cruise ships, the latter being financed by the EU’s Global Gateway, in addition to the construction of maritime terminals planned for the port of Praia, Tarrafal de S. Nicolau, Maio, Sal and Fogo, all of which have received guaranteed funding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
