Today, November 19, 2024, a training workshop on “Maritime Information Processing and Maritime Operations Conduct within an State\u00a0Action at Sea Framework” opened in Dakar, Senegal.<\/p>\n

This training workshop, organized by the \u2019Institut de S\u00e9curit\u00e9 Maritime Interr\u00e9gional (ISMI), benefits from the technical and financial support of the Directorate of Cooperation, Security and Defense (DCSD) of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the benefit of Gulf of Guinea states.<\/p>\n

This two-week training aims to provide participants with essential knowledge and skills to address growing maritime security and safety challenges.<\/p>\n

\n

During the opening ceremony, Mrs. Koffi Chantal, representative of the ISMI Director, stated, “The training we are launching today perfectly illustrates ISMI’s mission: to develop competent human resources capable of meeting the complex challenges of the maritime domain and contributing to the construction of a secure, safe, and sustainable regional economy.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to the Secretary General of the High Authority for Maritime Security, Safety, and Marine Environment Protection (HASSMAR), “The State\u00a0Action at Sea, which we all have the responsibility to guarantee, rests on three fundamental pillars: maritime information mastery, inter-institutional cooperation, and the ability to react to threats. These pillars can only be consolidated through continuous and targeted training.<\/p>\n

Indeed, in a context marked by the rise of maritime threats such as piracy, illegal fishing, drug and arms trafficking, marine pollution, and cybercrime, it is essential to equip our actors with modern tools and advanced expertise to effectively respond to these challenges. This training on maritime information processing and operations conduct is therefore both timely and strategic. It will help strengthen our capacity to anticipate, detect, and neutralize any form of maritime threat.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mr. Herv\u00e9 MOUSSARON, French Cooperation Project Manager, indicates that this training aims to improve information sharing, be able to find information where it is available, exploit it, and transmit it to all those who need it to conduct operations in good coordination between states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The training brings together a total of twenty-four (24) participants from various institutions, notably national navies, MMCC, HASSMAR, AMSSA, RSC South, RSC North, from eight (08) countries: Benin, Cape Verde, C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea-Conakry, Mauritania, Nigeria, and Senegal.<\/p>\n

It is noted that at the end of this training, participants will be able to master the knowledge and skills necessary to operate in the maritime domain.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Institut de S\u00e9curit\u00e9 Maritime Interr\u00e9gional (ISMI) is part of the National Strategy for State Action at Sea and responds to the resolutions of the Yaound\u00e9 Summit on maritime security and safety in the Gulf of Guinea.<\/p>\n

ISMI is now recognized as a regional maritime excellence center. As a school of the Acad\u00e9mie R\u00e9gionale des Sciences et Techniques de la Mer in Abidjan, it plays a key role in capacity building for civilian and military personnel from Gulf of Guinea states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
