{"id":16698,"date":"2024-12-20T12:59:26","date_gmt":"2024-12-20T11:59:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/?p=16698"},"modified":"2024-12-20T12:59:26","modified_gmt":"2024-12-20T11:59:26","slug":"comoros-to-boost-maritime-security-through-multi-agency-collaboration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/comoros-to-boost-maritime-security-through-multi-agency-collaboration\/","title":{"rendered":"Comoros to boost maritime security through multi-agency collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Comoros-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16699\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Comoros-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Comoros-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Comoros-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Comoros-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Comoros-1-720x540.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Key government agencies involved in ensuring Comoros\u2019 maritime security are taking steps to improve collaboration and streamline decision-making, with IMO support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Twenty-six officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Port Authority (SCP), Maritime Authority (ANAM), Coastguard, Customs, Gendarmerie, and Police and Intelligence Service, took part in a national maritime security training programme held in Moroni, Comoros (9-12 December).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The training focused on promoting a whole-of-government approach to addressing national maritime security risks and strategies, through an initial tabletop exercise and a National Maritime Security Committee workshop.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the tabletop exercise, participants analysed their respective roles and course of action in various security scenarios, such as the entry of a ship in a port, arrival of a ship with drugs, hijacking of a ship in transit at port, sabotage of a port facility and dealing with stowaways.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This was followed by a workshop focused on developing a National Maritime Security Committee (NMSC) structure for Comoros. Once established, such a cross-government committee would bring together all relevant stakeholders to coordinate maritime security initiatives and actions.
