The new ship, Ghana Navy Ship (GNS) Achimota, is the third ship to bear the name after two previously decommissioned vessels some years ago, and is the largest vessel so far acquired by the Ghana Navy, measuring 65 metres in length.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The President in his address at the commissioning of FOB Ezinlibo, highlighted his government\u2019s commitment to enhancing the Ghana Navy\u2019s logistical support and personnel accommodation, demonstrating his commitment to strengthening the Ghana Navy\u2019s capabilities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">HE Nana Akufo-Addo stated that the establishment of the Naval Training Command at Nutekpor and the Riverine Command, alongside strategically located FOBs like Ezinlibo, Tilli, Bui, Sankore and Kenyase, reflects his government\u2019s determination to secure Ghana\u2019s resources and ensure peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/telechargement-2.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16719\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/telechargement-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/telechargement-2.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/telechargement-2-300x167.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/telechargement-2-1024x569.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/telechargement-2-768x427.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The President in his address at the commissioning ceremony of GNS Achimota at the Sekondi Naval Base said, the government\u2019s achievements, including the acquisition of over 20 modern platforms demonstrate the unwavering commitment to making Ghana a maritime powerhouse in the sub region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ql-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0He added that his administration has significantly enhanced the modernization of the Ghana Navy which includes upgrading the naval fleet with modern platforms such as Offshore Security vessels and boundary class ships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ql-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minister for Defense, Hon Dominic Nitiwul also remarked on the significance of the new vessel, highlighting its importance in supporting the country&#8217;s maritime security efforts. He emphasised the government&#8217;s commitment to retooling and equipping the Ghana Armed Forces to enable them to perform their duties diligently.
