As the DRC\u2019s single maritime gateway for containerized cargo, it will streamline trade processes, centralize all administrative and customs operations, and enhance the government\u2019s visibility and control over foreign trade operations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Banana Port will be developed in phases with the first phase designed to accommodate the world\u2019s largest vessels and featuring a 600-meter quay, handling capacity of 450,000 TEUs per year and storage 30 hectares of storage area. The second phase will extend the quay wall<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0by over 2 kilometers. The port is a DP World investment with the participation of British International Investment (BII), the UK\u2019s development finance institution and impact investor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The construction of the port will involve numerous companies, including local enterprises and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, providing new opportunities for Congolese workers and businesses.
