The trailers were commissioned by Vanguard in order to overcome client and industry challenges, by delivering the first wind blades to have ever been transported through the Port of Richards Bay.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f5f9100 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f5f9100\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Due to the standard top-to-tail orientation of wind blade shipping, components such as wind blades have often been delivered to specific port locations that are capable of either double handling each component that arrives in the incorrect orientation or that has extensive space to complete various shunt manoeuvres prior to arriving in laydown areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vanguard have now brought a cost-effective solution to the market to overcome these challenges and provide increased efficiencies across port services sector. These innovative trailers are capable of receiving wind blades in either orientation and delivering the cargo to designated laydown areas, across tight quayside locations and with minimal disruption to the port.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1743412451267n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17733\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1743412451267n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1153\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1743412451267n.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1743412451267n-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1743412451267n-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1743412451267n-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1743412451267n-1536x865.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1743412451267n-800x450.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The trailers have been designed with a drawbar at either end for efficient shunting purposes and can accommodate extensive wind blade overhangs when loaded in the reverse orientation. This allows the transport arrangement to proceed to laydown areas in much tighter spaces, without having to undergo extensive ground work or street furniture removal. The trailers can be mobilised at site\/quayside using bespoke beams to allow for specific length configurations, with the first project having required the receiving and transportation of wind blades measuring 90.646m long.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first ongoing project includes the receiving and transportation of 75 wind blades from the Port of Richards Bay to a laydown area outside the port, before being transshipped to Vanguards Scheuerle RBTS (Rotor Blade Transportation System) trailers and transported to a site approximately 500km away.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cVanguard have provided consultancy from the initial concept, right through to the design and manufacturing of the trailers and it\u2019s been great to see them in action and working so efficiently.
