{"id":18191,"date":"2025-06-03T13:43:27","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T12:43:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/?p=18191"},"modified":"2025-06-10T13:47:34","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T12:47:34","slug":"piracy-incident-in-the-gulf-of-guinea-not-in-nigerian-waters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/piracy-incident-in-the-gulf-of-guinea-not-in-nigerian-waters\/","title":{"rendered":"PIRACY INCIDENT IN THE GULF OF GUINEA- Not in Nigerian Waters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/images-12-2-400x250-1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18192 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/images-12-2-400x250-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/images-12-2-400x250-1.jpeg 400w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/images-12-2-400x250-1-300x188.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The piracy incident that took place in the Gulf of Guinea on Friday 30th May 2025 occurred at coordinates 2\u00b037\u201935\u201dN, 6\u00b046\u201947\u201dE, approximately 75 nautical miles northwest of Santo Antonio Port, S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe approximately 420 nautical miles away from southeast, Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On May 30, 2025, at approximately 1614 UTC, the C4i Operational Centre of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) received a distress alert via the Maritime Domain Awareness for Trade \u2013 Gulf of Guinea (MDAT-GoG), reporting a suspected pirate attack on a commercial vessel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Preliminary investigations have confirmed the affected vessel to be the MV ORAGE FROST, a general cargo ship bearing IMO Number 9797656, and flying the flag of Cura\u00e7ao.
