The event focused on the theme: <strong data-start=\"473\" data-end=\"544\">\u201cGlobal Ocean Governance and Major Challenges of the 21st Century.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"604\">High-level speakers led discussions on key topics such as:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"606\" data-end=\"942\">\n<li data-start=\"606\" data-end=\"677\">\n<p data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"677\">Ocean, climate and biodiversity: addressing the overlapping challenges;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"678\" data-end=\"767\">\n<p data-start=\"680\" data-end=\"767\">Protecting fishery resources from IUU (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated) fishing;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"823\">\n<p data-start=\"770\" data-end=\"823\">The challenges of decarbonizing maritime transport;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"824\" data-end=\"930\">\n<p data-start=\"826\" data-end=\"930\">Capacity building in ocean governance and the blue economy: <em data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"927\">The international experience of PROBLUE<\/em>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"931\" data-end=\"942\">\n<p data-start=\"933\" data-end=\"942\">and more.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"944\" data-end=\"1428\">This side event was attended by numerous representatives from institutions, international organizations, and partners such as: the <strong>United Nations Economic Commission for Africa<\/strong>, <strong>Port Autonome de Kribi (PAK)<\/strong>, the <strong>World Bank<\/strong>, <strong>Autorit\u00e9 Portuaire Nationale (APN)<\/strong> of Cameroon, <strong data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1402\">Institut de la Paix et du D\u00e9veloppement (IdPD)<\/strong>, <strong>Africa Blue Economy<\/strong>, the <strong>National Shippers&#8217; Council of Cameroon<\/strong> (CNCC), <strong>Blue Women Africa<\/strong>, <strong>WIMAFRICA<\/strong>, <strong>Association Fran\u00e7aise du Droit Maritime<\/strong>, <strong>Bureau Veritas<\/strong>, and many others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1430\" data-end=\"1771\">One of the highlights of this gathering was the official launch and inauguration of the International Chair <strong data-start=\"1538\" data-end=\"1559\">\u201cLex Oceanopolis\u201d<\/strong>, dedicated to ocean governance, maritime risk management, and the development of a sustainable blue economy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1430\" data-end=\"1771\"><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-06-11-at-13.30.10.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18229\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-06-11-at-13.30.10.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1430\" data-end=\"1771\">The launch was moderated by <strong>\u00c9ric Chinje<\/strong>, a communication expert for the promotion of the blue economy.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1773\" data-end=\"2270\">Professor NDENDE expressed his deep gratitude, stating: <em>\u201cI would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for their valuable support to the World Bank, the United Nations, all the international organizations represented, the CDMO, my fellow academics and the academic community, the French Government, the French Association of Maritime Law (AFDM), Bureau Veritas, and finally to the Ministers of State and other foreign dignitaries who personally attended this joyful and unforgettable
