{"id":18272,"date":"2025-06-17T12:27:40","date_gmt":"2025-06-17T11:27:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/?p=18272"},"modified":"2025-06-18T12:30:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T11:30:11","slug":"shipping-branch-of-mwun-elects-new-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/shipping-branch-of-mwun-elects-new-president\/","title":{"rendered":"Shipping Branch Of MWUN Elects New President"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_7678-1024x683-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18273\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_7678-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_7678-1024x683-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_7678-1024x683-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/IMG_7678-1024x683-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Shipping Clearing and Forwarding Agencies Branch of the Maritime Workers\u2019 Union of Nigeria (MWUN) on Monday, June 16, 2025, elected Comrade Abass Olufemi Oluyinka as the new President of the branch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Abass takes over from Comrade Ekpenyong Etim Ekpenyong at the 6th Branch Quadrennial Delegates Conference (BDC), which was held at the national secretariat of MWUN in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The newly elected President was elected unopposed, as were other executives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Others elected to run the affairs of the union for the next four years are:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vice President: Rosemary Otikpere<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Treasurer: Philip Mukoro<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Trustee: Williams Boniface<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Trustee: Ubah Ugochukwu<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Auditor: Fowowe Michael<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Special Female Member: Pat Eyonsa Paloma<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President called on members of the branch to embrace unity and work together to build a stronger shipping branch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Abass expressed delight over the peaceful conduct of the election and urged members to collaborate with the new leadership to make progress and successfully meet the challenges ahead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He admonished members to shun any form of disrespectful behavior and stressed the importance of maintaining unity within the branch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to him, \u201cWe need all your support to achieve the tasks ahead.
