In its absence, residents have been forced to rely on unsafe, manually operated boats, putting lives at risk and hampering economic and social activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recognizing the urgent need, LiMA Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe, Sr., made an intervention on behalf of the Liberia Maritime Authority following an official assessment visit to Edina. The Commissioner had traveled to the area as part of a broader initiative to explore the establishment of a ship graveyard. During the visit, he was briefed on the ferry\u2019s breakdown and the resulting hardships faced by residents and tourists alike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a response, and in line with LiMA\u2019s corporate social responsibility program, Commissioner Lighe presented a cash donation of US$2,500.00 to the City of Edina through its Mayor, Madam Lady M. Benson. The presentation took place on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at LiMA\u2019s Global Headquarters in Monrovia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Commissioner Lighe expressed hope that the contribution would serve as a catalyst for restoring ferry operations and revitalizing the local economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis effort is part of our commitment to not only regulating Liberia\u2019s maritime space but also supporting communities that depend on water transportation for their livelihood and connection to essential services,\u201d said Commissioner Lighe. \u201cWe believe this contribution will help restore safe and reliable transport across the St. John River.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In her remarks, Mayor Benson extended heartfelt thanks to LiMA\u2019s leadership for the timely support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis donation will be pivotal in getting our ferry back in service,\u201d she said. \u201cIt opens the door for safer movement and reignites the potential for tourism and economic activities in our historic city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Liberia Maritime Authority remains
