The 15th instalment of Africa PPP came to an inspiring end on 30 October 2025, having seen a number of speakers tackling discussions from intra-African and global trade routes to building and maintaining infrastructure for industrialisation.<\/span><\/p>\n

This followed on from a very strong first day of the summit that saw the conference being officially opened by the\u00a0Namibian Minister of Works and Transport, Hon. Veikko Nekundi,<\/b>\u00a0who actively reminded delegates that\u00a0\u201cThe infrastructure we build today will determine the Africa of tomorrow.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

In addition to being treated to a warm welcome by\u00a0Hon. Veikko Nekundi,<\/b>\u00a0other distinguished guests and speakers included\u00a0Hon. Tertuis Simmers\u00a0<\/b>(MEC for Infrastructure, Western Cape Provincial Government, South Africa), Mr Jonas Sheelongo\u00a0<\/b>(Deputy Executive Director, Ministry of Works and Transport),\u00a0Ms Nangula Uaandja\u00a0<\/b>(Chief Executive Officer, Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board) and\u00a0Mr Martin Inkumbi\u00a0<\/b>(Chief Executive Officer, The Government Institutions Pension Fund).<\/p>\n

The summit is proud to mention that it welcomed\u00a0over 240 delegates<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a062 speakers<\/b>\u00a0from\u00a022 countries<\/b>\u00a0which is an ideal melting pot to exchange ideas and forge new connections to take the learnings and move forward. Hosted by the\u00a0Republic of Namibia<\/b>\u00a0and endorsed by the republic\u2019s\u00a0Ministry of Works and Transport,<\/b>\u00a0key sponsors of the event include the\u00a0Namibia Investment Promotion & Development Board (NIPDB),<\/b>\u00a0Old Mutual, Infra Gestion, Zutari, Motseng Ideas Infrastructure Group (MIIG)<\/b>\u00a0and the\u00a0African Legal Support Facility (ALSF),<\/b>\u00a0to name a few.<\/p>\n

Some key takeaways involve being mindful not to rush the process but to take the necessary time to get it right at the feasibility stage so as to avoid unnecessary delays down the road of the project. Also just as important is to realise and nurture our human capital \u2013 projects aren\u2019t lacking in talent, just the right experience. It is absolutely crucial for junior role-players to be carefully guided by more experienced hands in order to continue the flow of knowledge and ensure project success.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

From Dialogue to Strategy: Turning Vision into Investment<\/b>
\nOpening the first session of the day,\u00a0Samira Mensah,<\/b>\u00a0Managing Director Africa at\u00a0S&P Global Ratings,<\/b>\u00a0moderated a session that examined how to move from policy dialogue to practical investment. Speakers from across the continent shared models for mobilising capital, strengthening local markets, and ensuring sustainability in Public\u2013Private Partnerships (PPPs).<\/span><\/span>Tomas Adcock<\/b>\u00a0of the\u00a0International Finance Corporation<\/b>\u00a0underscored the value of standardised and replicable PPP transactions to improve efficiency and attract private capital, while\u00a0Mpho Mutloane<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0MIIG<\/b>\u00a0stressed the central role of green and blended finance in advancing sustainable infrastructure.Connecting the Continent: Modernising Roads, Rail, and Cross-Border Transport<\/b>
\nThe second session, moderated by\u00a0Sara Mezui Engo<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Old Mutual Namibia,<\/b>\u00a0explored how modern transport systems can unlock the\u00a0African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)<\/b>\u00a0and drive economic integration.<\/p>\n

Speakers including\u00a0Johny Smith<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Grindrod Rail,<\/b>\u00a0Sethu Kalili<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Otesa Civil Engineering,<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Justine Kabela<\/b>\u00a0of the\u00a0Tanzania\u2013Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA)<\/b>\u00a0called for renewed investment in rail and road corridors, digital customs systems, and harmonised regional standards.<\/p>\n

Infrastructure for Industrialisation: Building Corridors and Green Industrial Ecosystems<\/b>
\nModerated by\u00a0Nana Amoto Mensah<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0C-Nergy Global Holdings,<\/b>\u00a0the third session delved into how logistics corridors, special economic zones (SEZs), and green infrastructure can accelerate industrialisation.<\/p>\n

Speakers such as\u00a0Julius Nghikevali<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Namibia\u2019s Industrial Development Agency (NIDA),<\/b>\u00a0Andrew Shaw<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Transnet SOC Limited,<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Stephen Ikua<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Kenya\u2019s LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority<\/b>\u00a0highlighted the importance of aligning policy, finance, and infrastructure planning.<\/p>\n

Extending Trade Routes: Ports, Airports, and Global Connectivity<\/b>
\nIn the final session moderated by\u00a0Andrew Mugambi<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Dentons Hamilton Harrison & Matthews,<\/b>\u00a0panellists explored how Africa\u2019s ports and airports can anchor global trade competitiveness.<\/p>\n

Andrew Kanime<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Namport, James Bernard<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Liberia\u2019s National Port Authority, Anderson Mtalaki<\/b>\u00a0of the\u00a0Kenya Ports Authority,<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Martha Uumati<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Tridock Shipyard<\/b>\u00a0highlighted how digitalisation, port expansion, and well-structured PPPs are reshaping Africa\u2019s maritime and aviation sectors.<\/p>\n

Commitment to Action<\/b>
\nThe day concluded with an open-floor debate that reinforced a unified call to move from plans to implementation. Stakeholders including pension funds, city authorities, and legal experts committed to expanding investments in renewable energy, digital networks, and social infrastructure.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0Fillemon Iyambo<\/b>\u00a0of\u00a0Ino Harith Capital<\/b>\u00a0summed up:\u00a0\u201cAfrica has the resources, expertise, and investors. What we need now is coordination, clarity, and commitment to deliver.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

The next edition of\u00a0Africa PPP,<\/b>\u00a0the continent\u2019s longest running independent annual infrastructure investment and development event on PPPs is scheduled to return in\u00a02026,<\/b>\u00a0with final dates to be announced soon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
