The workshop gathers national agencies alongside the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Seychelles Maritime Safety Administration (SMSA) to strengthen coordinated maritime security governance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Minister Laporte underscored Seychelles\u2019 shift from planning to implementation and the need for unified national action to prioritise maritime security risks and define clear responsibilities for action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAll entities must take ownership of their respective mitigation actions. Only this approach will allow us to build a stronger, safer, and more resilient Seychelles,\u201d she added. The Minister also thanked Seychelles\u2019 international and national partners for their continued support,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Kiruja Micheni, Project Manager of DCoC\/JA and Head of the IMO delegation, highlighted shared responsibility and regional collaboration. \u201cMaritime security is not the work of one agency alone \u2014 it is the sum of our shared responsibilities, shared risks, and shared solutions. The NMSRR is essential to meeting commitments made at the High-Level Meeting and advancing Seychelles\u2019 maritime security priorities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Micheni commended Seychelles\u2019 operational successes, including recent interdictions, as examples of strong coordination. He also expressed appreciation to the European Union for its sustained support through key programmes advancing maritime security across the Western Indian Ocean.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop, running from 17 to 20 November 2025, will support Seychelles in identifying and prioritising maritime risks and strengthening its national maritime security framework.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Present at the opening were the Vice Chairman of the SMSA Board, Brigadier General Jean Attala, SMSA Board Members, Chief Executive Officer Captain Daniel Adam, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles Captain Sandy Benoiton, Chief Executive Officer of Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority Mr. Allen Cedras, and representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs, among other distinguished guests.<\/p>\n<p>Source : The Ministry of Transport, Ports &amp;
