Harvey, guided South Korean investment firm Make Group on a follow-up site assessment. This assessment aimed to lay the groundwork for a proposed multimillion-dollar maritime infrastructure project off the coast of Edina City, Grand Bassa County.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The visit continued previous assessments and allowed engineers and technical experts from Make Group to evaluate the land and coastal site chosen for the project. Key Liberian institutions were involved in this joint assessment, including the Ministry of Public Works, the Liberia Land Authority (LLA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They examined important technical, environmental, and land-use issues essential for effective project design and implementation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Deputy Commissioner Harvey stated that this effort shows LiMA\u2019s commitment to involving all relevant institutions, under the leadership of Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., as Liberia prepares for major maritime investments that could have a significant economic impact.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the visit, the delegation also spoke with the Manager of the Port of Buchanan, Mr. Jonathan Kaipay. He highlighted current and potential investment opportunities at the port, particularly in marine services, aligning with the strategic goals of the National Port Authority (NPA).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Grand Bassa County Superintendent, Mr. Karyou Johnson, assured the delegation that the county has set up a technical working group that includes all relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation process. He stressed that the project is expected to create many job opportunities, especially for young people in the county.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Superintendent Johnson also mentioned that the Grand Bassa County Legislative Caucus has been fully informed about the proposed investment and supports efforts to make it successful, given the anticipated economic benefits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Legislative Caucus was represented by District #5 Representative, Hon. Thomas A. Goshua II, who serves as the caucus\u2019 investment focal person. Representative Goshua confirmed the county leadership\u2019s willingness to work with Make Group in the best interests of both Liberia and the firm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Make Group Chairman, Mr. James Juhee Han, explained that the team\u2019s visit aimed at familiarizing themselves with the site and conducting technical evaluations. He stated that Make Group is considering building shipbuilding, dry-docking, and ship recycling facilities, projects likely to generate thousands of jobs and greatly improve Liberia\u2019s maritime sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Han also asked the management of the Port of Buchanan to provide a complete list of potential investment opportunities for the firm to review. Additionally, he mentioned that Make Group is looking into possible investments within Liberia\u2019s economic free zone and expressed gratitude for the collaboration of Grand Bassa County.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Furthermore, Mr. Han noted that the firm is considering constructing a bridge to connect Buchanan City to Edina City. This development could improve connectivity and economic activity in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The visit coincided with the Edina City Dumboy Festival, celebrating the city\u2019s 193rd anniversary. The Make Group Chairman joined the festivities, much to the joy of residents, further strengthening the connection between the visiting delegation and the local community.<\/p>\n<p>Source :
