Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) announces its operational Performance for 2025, highlighting a year marked by historic growth, capacity expansion, and continued investment in Mozambique\u2019s logistics system.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2025, the Port of Maputo recorded a historic all-time high in volumes, handling a total of 32.0 million tons, representing a 3.4% increase compared to the previous year (30.9 million in 2025). This performance reinforces the Port\u2019s position as a key regional logistics hub and reflects the resilience and efficiency of the integrated port and corridor system.<\/p>\n

MPDC\u2019s direct operations also reached a record level, with 15.2 million tons handled, corresponding to a 6.4% growth year-on-year. This result reflects the impact of sustained investments in infrastructure, systems, and human capital, as well as ongoing improvements in operational efficiency.<\/p>\n

Rail volumes, a central pillar of the Port of Maputo\u2019s sustainability strategy, increased by 17%, rising from 9.7 million tons in 2024 to 11.7 million tons in 2025.<\/p>\n

MPDC further strengthened its contribution to the Mozambican State through concession fees, which amounted to USD 48,9 million, compared to USD 46.8 million in the previous year which excludes additional benefits to Government in taxes and dividends to its Company, CFM. This increase reflects both the growth in activity levels and MPDC\u2019s continued commitment to generating economic value for the country.<\/p>\n

Achieving record volumes while continuing to invest in capacity, efficiency and social impact demonstrates the maturity and resilience of the Port of Maputo. Our focus remains on building a competitive, integrated and sustainable corridor that supports Mozambique\u2019s long-term economic development,\u201d said Os\u00f3rio Lucas, Chief Executive Officer of MPDC.<\/p>\n

The year was also marked by progress in strategic infrastructure projects. Of particular note is the completion of the Kanyaka island pier bridge, scheduled for March 2026, a project with significant social and economic impact that will substantially improve access, mobility, and logistical integration for the island community.<\/p>\n
