The operation was initiated in response to intelligence reports indicating widespread Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing activities, which pose a significant threat to marine sustainability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the patrol, the GNS intercepted a group of fishermen at Ada engaged in light fishing, an activity that contravenes Ghana\u2019s fisheries regulations and undermines sustainable fisheries management. The naval boarding team conducted a thorough inspection of the canoes and their equipment. Consequently, seven generators, associated light cables and bulbs, as well as a 17-plate battery used for the illicit activity, were seized.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The confiscated items have been securely conveyed to Naval Base Tema and are being held pending formal disposal directives from the Fisheries Commission.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ghana Navy calls on coastal communities to actively support the preservation of national security, marine biodiversity, and the long-term viability of the blue economy by promptly reporting suspicious activities.
