Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr. has held strategic discussions with the High Commissioner of Barbados, H.E. Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland, aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation between Liberia and the Caribbean nation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in key areas of maritime governance, registry development, and coastal sustainability, as both countries seek to deepen bilateral engagement in the maritime sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking during the engagement, Cllr. Lighe reaffirmed Liberia\u2019s commitment to building partnerships that deliver mutual benefits. He emphasized that Liberia remains open to engaging countries across various maritime and related sectors to expand opportunities and share expertise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe are pleased that these discussions are taking place, and the potential for collaboration is vast,\u201d Cllr. Lighe stated. \u201cBeyond these initial conversations, we are particularly interested in understanding the legal and regulatory frameworks within your jurisdiction, especially how they accommodate foreign participation. This is critical to strengthening our engagements globally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further noted that Liberia continues to draw valuable lessons from countries with strong domestic maritime systems. According to him, even nations that may not be dominant players globally often possess robust domestic registries that offer important insights for enhancing Liberia\u2019s own registry program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For her part, High Commissioner Bynoe-Sutherland underscored Barbados\u2019 interest in fostering cooperation with Liberia, particularly in areas of shared strategic importance.
