col-sm-12 col-xs-12 spacing\">\n<p><b>MARITIME TRAINING PROGRAMME (MTP)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Work Integrated Learning (WIL): Small Vessel Regime x 10<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<b>Department of Transport (DoT)<\/b>, in partnership with the\u00a0<b>South African Maritime Safety Authority<\/b><b>\u00a0(SAMSA)<\/b>, invites applications from suitably qualified unemployed seafarers to participate in a 24 month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme under the Small Vessel Regime.<\/p>\n<p><b>PROGRAMME DURATION<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>24 Months (Fixed Term Contract \/ Training Programme)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Successful candidates will be required to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with the inspection and surveying of small vessels<\/li>\n<li>Participate in scheduled training and skills development activities<\/li>\n<li>Support compliance monitoring in line with maritime safety standards<\/li>\n<li>Participate in maritime safety awareness and outreach initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Compile and submit basic inspection and compliance reports<\/li>\n<li>Support operational duties under the guidance of a Mentor \/ Surveyor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>PLACEMENT LOCATIONS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Successful applicants will be placed at one of the following locations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Richards Bay<\/li>\n<li>Durban<\/li>\n<li>East London<\/li>\n<li>Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth)<\/li>\n<li>Mossel Bay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>STIPEND<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participants will receive a monthly stipend of R10 000 for the duration of the programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><i>Please note: This is a training and development opportunity and does not guarantee permanent employment upon completion.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 spacing\"><span class=\"jobdetails-labels\">Requirements<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 spacing\">\n<p><b>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Certificate of Proficiency (COP), Diploma in Maritime Studies or a related maritime qualification<\/li>\n<li>A BSc in Nautical Science will be advantageous<\/li>\n<li>Must be an unemployed seafarer or have a maritime qualification in a related field<\/li>\n<li>Aged 18 to 35 years<\/li>\n<li>Must meet applicable maritime medical fitness requirements<\/li>\n<li>Basic knowledge of maritime safety legislation and regulations<\/li>\n<li>Good communication and report writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in inland waters (recreational dams), port, and coastal environments<\/li>\n<li>Preference will be given to suitably qualified unemployed seafarers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>APPLICATION PROCESS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Interested applicants who meet the above requirements
