The workshop brings together the <strong data-start=\"647\" data-end=\"698\">National Centre for State Action at Sea (CNAEM)<\/strong> and the country&#8217;s key maritime institutions, including the <strong data-start=\"758\" data-end=\"801\">National Maritime Affairs Agency (ANAM)<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"807\" data-end=\"865\">National Civil Aviation and Meteorology Agency (ANACM)<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"871\" data-end=\"895\">Comorian Coast Guard<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"901\" data-end=\"966\">National Fisheries Monitoring and Surveillance Centre (CNCSP)<\/strong>, and the <strong data-start=\"976\" data-end=\"1000\">National Gendarmerie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1526\">Organized under the <strong data-start=\"1023\" data-end=\"1053\">Safe Seas for Africa (SSA)<\/strong> programme, funded by the <strong data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1097\">European Union<\/strong> and implemented by the <strong data-start=\"1121\" data-end=\"1154\">Indian Ocean Commission (IOC)<\/strong>, the workshop represents an important milestone in strengthening the country&#8217;s maritime safety and security framework. The SSA programme aims to enhance the capacity of the signatory States of the <strong data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1402\">Regional Maritime Security Architecture (RMSA)<\/strong> to prevent, detect, and effectively respond to maritime incidents and crises while promoting stronger regional cooperation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1528\" data-end=\"1870\">The discussions focus on several key strategic priorities. These include improving coordination among the various government agencies responsible for maritime governance, strengthening <strong data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1748\">Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA)<\/strong>, and developing an effective mechanism for collecting, analysing, and sharing information related to maritime activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1872\" data-end=\"2284\">The workshop also addresses the legal, technical, and operational requirements necessary for establishing and operating an efficient <strong data-start=\"2005\" data-end=\"2053\">National Maritime Information Sharing Centre<\/strong>. Such a centre has become an essential tool for enabling national authorities to maintain a comprehensive overview of their maritime domain, anticipate emerging risks, and coordinate responses to incidents at sea more effectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2286\" data-end=\"2520\">For the Comoros, where a significant share of the national economy relies on maritime activities, international trade, and marine resources, strengthening surveillance and coordination mechanisms represents a major strategic priority.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2522\" data-end=\"2777\">Combating <strong data-start=\"2532\" data-end=\"2585\">Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing<\/strong>, illicit trafficking, marine pollution, irregular migration, and other transnational maritime threats requires close cooperation among national institutions as well as with regional partners.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2522\" data-end=\"2777\"><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Image2hh.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21463\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Image2hh.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1124\" height=\"616\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Image2hh.png 1124w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Image2hh-300x164.png 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Image2hh-1024x561.png 1024w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Image2hh-768x421.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1124px) 100vw, 1124px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2779\" data-end=\"3203\">This initiative also contributes to strengthening the integration of the <strong data-start=\"2852\" data-end=\"2903\">National Centre for State Action at Sea (CNAEM)<\/strong> within the regional maritime security architecture established across the Western Indian Ocean. This architecture is built on close cooperation between regional maritime information-sharing centres, coastal States, and international organizations committed to promoting maritime safety and security.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3205\" data-end=\"3618\">On this occasion, the <strong data-start=\"3227\" data-end=\"3282\">Regional Maritime Information Fusion Centre (RMIFC)<\/strong> is actively participating in the workshop through the presence of <strong data-start=\"3349\" data-end=\"3372\">Captain Said LAVANI<\/strong>, the Comoros Liaison Officer to the RMIFC. He is serving as an assistant to the <strong data-start=\"3453\" data-end=\"3498\">International Maritime Organization (IMO)<\/strong> consultant appointed under the <strong data-start=\"3530\" data-end=\"3565\">Djibouti Code of Conduct (DCoC)<\/strong> to support and facilitate the technical discussions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3620\" data-end=\"3933\">His participation illustrates the complementarity between national initiatives and regional maritime cooperation mechanisms. It also reflects the RMIFC&#8217;s commitment to supporting Member States in strengthening their national capacities for maritime surveillance, information sharing, and maritime risk management.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3935\" data-end=\"4403\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Through this workshop, the Comoros is taking another significant step toward consolidating its national maritime security architecture. The expected outcomes will provide a clear roadmap for the establishment and development of the <strong data-start=\"4167\" data-end=\"4215\">National Maritime Information Sharing Centre<\/strong>, while further enhancing the country&#8217;s contribution to regional efforts aimed at ensuring safer, more secure, and more resilient maritime spaces capable of addressing emerging
