(26 &#8211; 27 August 2026).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iaea.org\/services\/key-programmes\/atlas-initiative\">ATLAS<\/a>\u00a0(Atomic Technologies Licensed for Applications at Sea) is designed to strengthen international cooperation on the safe, secure and safeguarded use of nuclear technologies at sea, reflecting growing global interest in advanced maritime nuclear applications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IMO contributed to discussions on the legal, regulatory, safety, security, safeguards and liability frameworks needed to support the potential future deployment of nuclear-powered ships and other maritime nuclear applications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IMO&#8217;s Deputy Director at the\u00a0Maritime Safety Division (Marine Technology and Cargoes), Mr. Masud Karim, highlighted the organization&#8217;s\u00a0mandate for global ship safety, maritime security and marine environmental protection, while underlining the complementary role of the IAEA in nuclear safety, security and safeguards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The launch of ATLAS is expected to provide a structured platform for dialogue among governments, regulators, international organizations, industry and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IMO\u2019s participation reinforces its commitment to continued cooperation with the IAEA and Member States to ensure that any future maritime nuclear innovation is supported by robust international standards and upholds high levels of safety, security and environmental protection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source : IMO<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Maritime Organization (IMO) participated in the International Atomic<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":22191,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_eb_attr":"","_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[40,2204,2257,442],"tags":[3469,2687,1308,31,32,1297,340,1388],"class_list":["post-22190","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","category-international","category-maritime-safety","category-news","tag-atlas-atomic-technologies-licensed-for-applications-at-sea","tag-daily-news","tag-international-maritime-organization-imo","tag-maritimafrica","tag-maritime","tag-maritime-industry-en","tag-maritime-safety","tag-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.5 -
