style=\"text-align: justify;\">Government has called for strengthened collaboration with the World Bank to support the growth and development of Zambia\u2019s aquaculture sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Permanent Secretary Dr. Max Choombe made the call when World Bank Practice Manager for Agriculture and Food, Ms. Frauke Jungbluth, paid a joint courtesy call on the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in Lusaka.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Choombe said the partnership could help address key challenges affecting aquaculture development, while supporting increased production, investment, value addition and value chain development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said stronger collaboration with development partners was important to improving productivity, enhancing climate resilience and creating sustainable livelihoods through the fisheries sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Choombe also highlighted the need for technical and institutional support to unlock the potential of aquaculture as a contributor to food and nutrition security and economic development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The meeting provided an opportunity for the Ministry and the World Bank to discuss sector priorities and explore areas of collaboration to accelerate the sustainable development of aquaculture in Zambia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ms. Jungbluth was accompanied by officials from the World Bank, while the Ministry of Agriculture was represented by Acting Permanent Secretary\u2013Administration, Dr. Chizumba Shepande, and Permanent Secretary\u2013Technical Services, Mr. John Mulongoti.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The World Bank Representative pledged continued partnership with the Government of the Republic of Zambia in supporting interventions aimed at strengthening agricultural productivity, food
