Certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The launch ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries, Dr Arvin Boolell; the Junior Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries, Mr Gilles Fabrice David; the Head of the MMTA, Mr Praveen Makool; and the Secretary of the Syndicat des P\u00eacheurs, Mr Judex Ramphul, among other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his address, Minister Boolell underscored the importance of training in strengthening safety at sea and supporting the sustainable development of the fisheries sector. He stressed that equipping fishermen with the appropriate knowledge and technical skills is essential to preventing accidents, protecting lives and ensuring that fishing activities were carried out responsibly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minister also highlighted the potential of the blue economy to generate new opportunities in fisheries, maritime tourism, port development, renewable energy and deep ocean water applications. He further pointed to the potential use of artificial intelligence to facilitate fishing activities, emphasising the importance of coordinated planning and sustainable management of marine resources to maximise the sector&#8217;s contribution to the economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For his part, Mr David described the launch as an important step towards the professionalisation of the fishing sector. He highlighted the importance of combining fishermen&#8217;s practical experience with scientific knowledge and technical expertise to strengthen their professional competencies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further noted that the course would provide participants with an opportunity to acquire specialised skills and qualifications that could be recognised locally, regionally and internationally, thereby supporting their professional development and enhancing the capacity of the fisheries sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source : GIS
