{"id":5540,"date":"2021-01-26T23:45:53","date_gmt":"2021-01-26T22:45:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/?p=5540"},"modified":"2021-01-26T23:45:53","modified_gmt":"2021-01-26T22:45:53","slug":"gulf-of-guinea-council-conclusions-launching-the-pilot-case-for-the-coordinated-maritime-presences-concept","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/gulf-of-guinea-council-conclusions-launching-the-pilot-case-for-the-coordinated-maritime-presences-concept\/","title":{"rendered":"Gulf of Guinea: Council conclusions launching the pilot case for the Coordinated Maritime Presences concept"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/7-DJQPR.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5541 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/7-DJQPR.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"135\" \/><\/a>The Council today approved conclusions\u00a0launching the first pilot case of the Coordinated Maritime Presences (CMP) concept in the Gulf of Guinea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The CMP mechanism aims to increase the EU\u2019s capacity as a reliable partner and maritime security provider, offering greater European operational engagement, ensuring a permanent maritime presence and outreach in Maritime Areas of Interest as established by the Council, and promoting international cooperation and partnership at sea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conclusions establish the Gulf of Guinea as a\u00a0Maritime Area of Interest\u00a0and welcome the creation of the Maritime Area of Interest Coordination Cell. The pilot in the Gulf of Guinea will further enhance the EU\u2019s coordination capacities in strategic maritime environments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today\u2019s launch of the Gulf of Guinea pilot reinforces the EU\u2019s efforts in the region, in line with the EU\u2019s Gulf of Guinea Strategy.
