Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has solicited with Ghana to support Nigeria\u2019s bid for the seat of Secretary General in the forthcoming Maritime Organization for West and Central Africa (MOWCA) election.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"post-body\">\n<div class=\"post-excerpt\">\n<div class=\"post-excerpt\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minister stated this today when the Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Benonita Bismarck who is on a working visit to Nigerian Shippers Council paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Amaechi intimated the delegation that Nigeria has duly adhered and supported the organization, hence the need for Nigeria as such should be considered for the post. <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">He called on Ghana to provide Nigeria with the needed support as she will be hosting MOWCA\u2019s next meeting scheduled for 26th \u2013 30th July, 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also, the Minister informed of Nigeria\u2019s readiness to support the West African Maritime Bank and called on Ghana to key into the initiative<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier, the CEO, GSA, Benonita Bismarck, said they were in Nigeria to strengthen collaborative ties between the two countries, adding that with ratification of the African Continental Free Trade Zone, there is the urgent need for both countries a to work on developing non-trade barriers and trade facilitations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking further, Bismarck informed the Minister on the need to bring Sierra Leone, Gambia and Liberia into MOWCA as the organization currently has only two anglophone countries with 17 being francophone.
