Abdullahi Samatar, said the consignment on the ship was mixed cargo mainly agricultural products.\u00a0He said that the port expects to receive another vessel MV Spirit of Dubai on Monday to pick the transhipment cargo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">With the arrival of this ship it signifies we are ready for business and therefore we expect more transhipment traffic to this port which has a competitive advantage in terms of geographical position and capacity to handle bigger vessels<\/span>,&#8221; said the GM.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/217662858_6711411165567913_3896755140139925769_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-7195 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/217662858_6711411165567913_3896755140139925769_n-1024x461.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/217662858_6711411165567913_3896755140139925769_n-1024x461.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/217662858_6711411165567913_3896755140139925769_n-300x135.jpg 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/217662858_6711411165567913_3896755140139925769_n-768x346.jpg 768w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/217662858_6711411165567913_3896755140139925769_n.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Samatar further said discussions are ongoing between KPA and other stakeholders on reduced tariffs and tax rebates that will make Lamu Port an attractive logistics hub.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">KRA Coast Regional Commissioner, Mr Joseph Tonui, who was also present disclosed that a 10 dollar transhipment fees has already been waived, with discussions ongoing among stakeholders to explore other tax break options.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tonui further added that KRA has deployed clearance systems to enhance and guarantee efficiency and turnaround time at the new port.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">The investment the government has put in this port is high and we are therefore happy to receive business.
