{"id":7646,"date":"2021-10-23T11:49:25","date_gmt":"2021-10-23T10:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/?p=7646"},"modified":"2021-10-23T11:51:20","modified_gmt":"2021-10-23T10:51:20","slug":"npa-to-support-digital-revolution-of-african-ports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/npa-to-support-digital-revolution-of-african-ports\/","title":{"rendered":"NPA To Support Digital Revolution Of African Ports"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/STANDARD-NPA-LOGO-e1576614648454.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7541 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/STANDARD-NPA-LOGO-e1576614648454.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"527\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/STANDARD-NPA-LOGO-e1576614648454.jpg 500w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/STANDARD-NPA-LOGO-e1576614648454-285x300.jpg 285w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a>The Management of Nigerian Ports Authority has been working steadily to digitalized operations at all port locations in the country, towards optimal efficiency, elimination of corrupt practices and service excellence.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Acting Managing Director of the NPA, Mohammed Bello-Koko stated this when he received a delegation of the Ports Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA), led by the Association\u2019s Secretary General, Mr. Jean Marie Koffi, in his office on Thursday.<\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The PMAWCA delegation came to officially invite the acting Managing Director as a Speaker at the forthcoming <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">41st PMAWCA Council Meeting<\/span><\/strong>, with the theme: \u201c<strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Digitized Port As A Model Of Port Efficiency<\/span><\/strong>\u201d, scheduled for <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">November 2021<\/span><\/strong>, in <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Douala \u2013 Cameroon<\/strong><\/span>.<\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bello-Koko informed the PMAWCA delegation that the Authority has over the years championed the transition from manual to digital, automated and smart business processes by working in collaboration with sister government agencies and providers of terminal and shipping services in the country. He noted that this approach has enabled the country\u2019s port system to continue to record increase in cargo throughput every year, despite most of the seaports operating far above their designed capacity.<\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NPA helmsman commended the PMAWCA Secretary General and his team for sustaining the long cordial relations between the two organisations, stating that \u201cPMAWCA has been a worthy partner at boosting regional trade and most importantly encouraging the spirit of unity and brotherhood among Ports within the sub region and Africa in general\u201d.<\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">He assured that the Authority is ready to work with PMAWCA to achieve closer regional integration and increased participation of ports in the region in the global economy.<\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to him, \u201d as a port authority, we have been implementing a port community system to improve collaboration and information sharing among all parties in the supply value chain.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;I therefore urge PMAWCA to remain steadfast in the promotion of the single window system as part of port operations in the subregion, this is the right way to improve the efficiency of cargo clearance, he added.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his response, Jean Marie Koffi eulogized the Authority and its succeeding Chief Executives for their impactful contributions over the years, to the growth and development of the Association.<\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">While thanking the NPA acting Managing Director for the very warm reception accorded his delegation despite his very busy schedule, he described the forthcoming 16th Roundtable Conference of Managing Directors as part of the highlights of the 41st PMAWCA Council Meeting, where delegates of member ports and sister organizations outside the continent would share experiences on digital transformation of their ports, the challenges encountered, the solutions applied and achievements therefrom.<\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"x_ydpf14acecyiv9172662990ymail_android_signature\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">He explained that the 2020 edition of the PMAWCA Annual Council Meeting couldn\u2019t hold due to the COVID-19
