The new vessel productivity record was achieved with Crane Density 5.5 and average crane productivity over 27mph.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">With this\u00a0<strong>Meridian Port Service Ltd (MPS)<\/strong>\u00a0reached a new level of container handling efficiency on such class of vessels which is the fruition of the shareholders\u2019 investment in the Tema Port expansion project building a new infrastructure including larger and deeper harbour basin geared with the most modern gantry cranes and cutting-edge technologies coupled with continuous training and human resources development.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8262\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8262\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/The-MSC-IVANA-1024x577-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8262 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/The-MSC-IVANA-1024x577-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"577\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/The-MSC-IVANA-1024x577-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/The-MSC-IVANA-1024x577-1-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/maritimafrica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/The-MSC-IVANA-1024x577-1-768x433.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8262\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The MSC IVANA (IMO: 9398371) is a Container Ship is operated by MSC (MEDITERRANEAN SHIPPING CO) and is sailing under the flag of Panama. Her length overall (LOA) is 363.57 meters and her width is 45.61 meters. It\u2019s carrying capacity is 11,700 TEU and Gross Tonnage of 131,771<br \/>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6 class=\"has-text-align-justify has-medium-font-size\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Again, the new MPS Terminal 3 facility and the progressively digitalised service efficiency to shippers and consignees as well as superb vessel productivity levels has resulted in direct vessel calls with larger deep drafted vessels (avoiding hubs) hence shorter transit times thus increasing import and export capacity and potentials to surrounding countries.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The total container throughput handled on\/off the MSC IVANA was 3,233 TEUs preformed with 2,423 crane moves being 1,058 discharge moves and 1,365 load-out moves out of which 434 moves was to other ports which is creating the connectivity that MPS is nurturing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The MSC IVANA is deployed on the Africa Express Service which is a direct port call at Tema, Ghana. The AFEX Service covers the following range of ports: Xingang \u2013 Busan \u2013 Gwangyang \u2013 Ningbo \u2013 Shanghai \u2013 Nansha \u2013 Shekou \u2013 Singapore \u2013 Colombo \u2013 Lom\u00e9 \u2013\u00a0<strong>Tema<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Durban \u2013 Port Louis \u2013 Colombo \u2013 Singapore \u2013 Xingang.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">MSC AFEX direct service is not only offering fast transit times and reliability in the West African region but is also creating new business opportunities for clients between Far East, Oceania, Middle East, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Ghana.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The CEO of MPS, Mr. Mohamed Samara, remarked<em>\u00a0\u201c<strong>It has been acknowledged by trade experts that one of the key factors for the realization of the vision of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), is the development of significant trade and transport infrastructure. MPS Terminal 3 is first amongst these infrastructures<\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">With MPS Terminal 3 positing itself as an effective transhipment hub providing connectivity between the seaports of Africa and the hinterland markets. \u00a0Ghana through this will be in the lead in Africa for reducing to the barest minimum existing intra-continental trade connectivity barriers.
