NAPs are an important part of efforts to reduce GHG emissions in the maritime sector. IMO has encouraged countries to develop and submit their plans (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/OurWork\/Environment\/Pages\/RELEVANT-NATIONAL-ACTION-PLANS-AND-STRATEGIES.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\">read more<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">). This will help countries to achieve the emission reduction goals set out in\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/MediaCentre\/HotTopics\/Pages\/Reducing-greenhouse-gas-emissions-from-ships.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\">IMO\u2019s initial GHG strategy<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<blockquote><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cA collaborative and strategic approach is essential for the success of a country\u2019s decarbonisation strategy and the NAP roundtables are an ideal platform to bring stakeholders together to initiate these planning conversations,\u201d says Minglee Hoe, G<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"normaltextrun\">reenVoyage2050 Project Technical Analyst.<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0\u201cOur bespoke support is intended to build upon ongoing activities on the reduction of GHG emissions from shipping already taking place on a national and regional level.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:254}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">The roundtables, which are available to all GreenVoyage2050 partnering countries, offer an interactive platform for national authorities and relevant stakeholders to explore the motivating factors and\u202fbenefits for creating a NAP, and to connect the dots to existing emission reduction efforts by the country. The events allow practical implementation of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/greenvoyage2050.imo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/NAP-from-decision-to-implementation_compressed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">IMO-Norway GreenVoyage2050 NAP guide<\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:254}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">The first roundtable<\/span><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">was held\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">online and\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">saw active participation\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">by 10 participants representing\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">various relevant Government Ministries and agencies across Kenya. The meeting showcased lessons learned from some of the IMO Member States that have already created NAPs (Finland, India, Norway and Singapore) and outlined the reasons and benefits to creating this national strategy.
