World’s largest floating library “Logos Hope” crosses Suez Canal
MV Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating library, crossed the Suez Canal within the South-bound convoy that was coming from Port Said port and and heading to the Jordanian port of Aqaba.
In a statement released on Tuesday 24/1/2023, the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) said the floating library consists of 9 floors and offers over 5,000 books in various fields, including science, literature, education, hobbies and more.
The ship, which is 132 meters in length and 21 meters in width, sails under the flag of Malta. It has a total load of 14,000 tons.
SCA Chairman Osama Rabie said the canal’s strategic location qualifies it to become a main destination for crossing all types of ships, which in turn could boost the activities of Egyptian ports.
He noted that the Suez Canal has seen in the past few years unprecedented boom in developing its navigation services, as part of the presidential directives for upgrading the waterway to maintain its leadership as the fastest, shortest and safest navigational route.
