MOWCA signs two Memorandums of Understanding with ISCOS and ASA during the 6th AAMA Conference
On May 5, 2023, a historic event took place during the 6th Conference of the Association of African Maritime Administrations (AAMA) in Kenya. A meeting was held for the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Maritime Organization of West and Central Africa (MOWCA) and the Intergovernmental Standing Committee on Shipping (ISCOS), as well as between MOWCA and the African Shipowners Association (ASA).
Passionate discussions took place between the Secretaries-General of MOWCA, Dr. Paul Adalikwu, ISCOS, Mr. Daniel Kiange, and ASA, Ms. Funmi Folorunso, who exchanged views on new developments in the maritime industry.
MOWCA and ISCOS agreed to work in synergy to establish the African Maritime Organization (AMO), which will promote cooperation and integration in the maritime sector.
The mutually beneficial partnership between MOWCA and ASA was also concluded, with an emphasis on promoting the ambitions of African shipowners. This win-win partnership is based on a common vision for promoting the interests of African shipowners.
The signing of this memorandum of understanding marks an important milestone for cooperation and integration in the African maritime industry. MOWCA, ISCOS, and ASA will work together to strengthen Africa’s presence in the global maritime industry and promote sustainable economic growth for African countries.
The joint efforts of stakeholders should lead to greater coordination and harmonization of maritime policies and programs in Africa. This synergy is an important step towards the development of a sustainable and prosperous maritime economy in Africa, which will contribute to the economic and social well-being of the region.
