Morocco re-elected member of the Council of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) for 2023-2027

Morocco was re-elected as a member of the Board of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) at the 14th General Assembly and 20th Conference held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Among 26 other member states in the running, Morocco applied with the support of the Ministry of Equipment and Water and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad. A large Moroccan delegation took part in the IALA conference and General Assembly.

This re-election makes Morocco the only Arab and African country on the IALA Council, alongside 23 other Member States. This testifies to the confidence that the international maritime community has in Morocco and is recognition of the progress made by the country in the port and maritime field, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

As a member of the IALA Council, Morocco will have the opportunity to help strengthen the association’s missions and consolidate its position within the international maritime community, particularly with regard to the safety of maritime navigation and the protection of the marine environment.

The Kingdom of Morocco will continue to actively support IALA’s initiatives, with a particular focus on promoting the safety of maritime navigation in Africa, in line with the association’s motto: “Successful voyages, sustainable planet”.
