Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA) is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced personnel for the below post:
Business Development Manager
The Business Development Manager contributes in driving the Seychelles Ports Authority’s business and increasing its revenue, identifying and developing new business opportunities, and building and expanding the visibility of the Authority.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Periodically undertake research in Port related trends locally, regionally and internationally and prepare regular reports with recommendations when strategizing for the short, medium and long term;
- Develop a strong understanding of the formal and informal strategic objectives, particularly economic and financial, of the SPA and prepare plans that area aligned to and will deliver to these strategic objectives.
- Undertake periodic evaluations of SPA’s economic and financial performance and recommend tactics may be employed to improve these indicators;
- Periodically assist in the review and amendment of relevant laws and regulations to ensure that the Authority is up to date legally to face new and emerging challenges in the Port Industry
- Oversee the Properties Management Unit: ensure that all land leased to the and properties developed by SPA are accounted for; all leases/sub-leases are current and renewed in a timely manner where necessary, and dues collected in a timely manner;
- Prepare proposals for consideration by the appropriate authority for new business and commercial ventures that the SPA may engage in to consolidate and reinforce its revenue streams
- Prepare project proposals for (re-)development of rental properties, for concessions for various developments to be undertaken by private parties and for Public-Private Partnerships for consideration and approval by the appropriate authority;
- When required, engage in national, regional and international maritime forums to ensure that the SPA remains abreast of Port Development Trends, gains insight on regional competitions, safeguard SPA Corporate Image and expand on SPA cooperation agreement and partnerships with strategic partners in the global Ports and shipping Industry;
- Conduct economic and financial assessment on the Authority’s projects with a view to ascertaining appropriate return on investments.
- Review policies and procedures, as well as develop new ones as necessary to improve efficiency, quality of output and service, and compliance to applicable laws as well as to manage risk and to ensure consistency in how the department interacts with its internal and external stakeholders.
Qualification & Experience:
- University Degree in Business Administration or related field with 3-5 years working experience at management level, preferably in sales or marketing.
- Experience of working in a corporate/business focused environment;
Knowledge & Abilities:
- Knowledge in the Maritime Field is an advantage.
- Excellent report writing skills
- Excellent Leadership skills
- Good Computer skills (Word and Excel)
- Ability to lead a dynamic team
Remuneration: Based on qualification and experience
