The Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector (MTLS) and Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) Signed a Memorandum of Understanding to Provide a Frame work of Cooperation

RADM. Tarek Abdullah Ahmed, Head of Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector signed today, the 19th of September 2024, an MoU with the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) to provide a framework of cooperation and establish shared principles on ethics and integrity in the maritime industry. The event was attended by representatives of Port Authorities and MACN’s local help desk, Eldib Pandi Company.

The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network is a global business network working to achieve integrity and fair trade for the benefit of the maritime industry and society at large. It comprises more than 300 members globally, representing more than 70% of the global tonnage of merchant fleet. The network of members comprises of a large group of vessels owners, managers and operators, cargo owners, port agencies, Flag States and marine insurance companies.

Through concluding various MoUs globally, MACN seeks to enhance trade, eliminate corruption in the maritime industry, and establish integrity within the maritime community. The Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector also seeks, through this cooperation, to raise the classification of Egyptian ports in the field of disciplined and fair maritime transactions.
