ANP continues its performance drive at the port of Jorf Lasfar to serve port users
The port complex of Jorf Lasfar has just made history by welcoming for the very first time a coal ship with a draught of 14 metres. The vessel is the M/V MARATHOS, a 245-metre-long Post-Panamax bulk carrier carrying a cargo of 103,201 tonnes of coal for the operator ‘TAQA Morocco’.
The berthing of the MARATHOS at berth 3 of the coal terminal represents a strategic turning point for the port of Jorf Lasfar, confirming its growing capacity to accommodate large vessels in compliance with the most demanding international standards, while maintaining an optimum level of safety and efficiency.
This success is the result of exemplary collaboration and coordination between all port stakeholders: Port Authorities, the National Ports Agency (ANP), Operators, Shipowners, Pilotage, Towage and Mooring Service Providers, etc. Their collective mobilisation, carried out with unrivalled professionalism and commitment, enabled this challenge to be met.
Through this performance, ANP is reaffirming its status as a strategic logistics link, offering port infrastructures developed to serve the competitiveness of the country’s foreign trade and to international standards. The port of Jorf Lasfar, by virtue of its positioning, the diversity of its activity and the scale of the traffic handled (1st port in terms of volume of traffic handled), is an illustration of this.
