Liberia, Sri Lanka Strengthen Maritime Ties
The Sri Lanka Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Nimal Senadheera has met and held meaningful talks with Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the IMO Robert Wilmot Kpadeh.
In the meeting held at noon today at the offices of the Liberia Permanent Mission in London, Southwark Bridge, the two Maritime nations forged stronger partnership, cooperation, and collaboration aimed at effectively tackling critical and emerging global maritime issues confronting the smooth flow of International shipping with much emphasis on maritime security and safety.
Both delegations agreed to work together closely for the good of global maritime as well as the common interest of their respective countries.
Newly designated High Commissioner and Permanent Representative Senadeheera is expected to present his Letter of Credence to the IMO Secretary General H.E. Arsenio Dominguez in a few days and has asked for the support of PMR Kpadeh, who has been at the IMO close to two years and commands much respect from both his colleagues and the Sacretariat of the IMO for his stellar leadership and outstanding representation of his country Liberia.
Permanent Representative Kpadeh welcomed his Sri Lanka counterpart to the IMO and promised to show him the way and added, “in the spirit of cooperation, collaboration, and a united global maritime sector, all member states must work together in championing the cause of international shipping for the good of the world. PMR Kpadeh noted the world is doomed without maritime, as such, it is significantly compelling for all member states to hold together for the protection and sustainability of the sector for the good of hilumanity, and Liberia, as global leader in the interprise of international shipping remains profoundly committed in this respect”.
Both men exchanged gifts and posed for photos along with their respective delegations following the bilateral exchange.
