Congo Terminal participates in the 45th annual meeting of the AGPAOC

From 4 to 7 November 2025, Congo Terminal took part in the 45th annual council of the West and Central African Ports Management Association (AGPAOC), which brought together more than 600 people. Participants discussed the theme « Reinventing port management: towards sustainable and resilient infrastructure development in the face of economic and environmental challenges » with a view to innovating and building a shared vision for the future of regional port logistics.

The world’s leading shipowner MSC, delegations of experts from the maritime and port sector in West and Central Africa, members and technical and financial partners of AGPAOC were in attendance. They discussed optimising the use of port areas, developing smart and sustainable infrastructure, effective responses to global economic changes and threats related to climate change, and finally, sharing best practices..

This was an opportunity for Anthony Samzun, Managing Director of Congo Terminal, to highlight the investments made by Congo Terminal in the Pointe-Noire container terminal and the extension project at the East Pier, which will enable the autonomous port of Pointe-Noire to increase its capacity and accommodate the world’s largest container ships.

“This year, we will handle approximately 1,200,000 TEUs, compared to 200,000 TEUs at the start of the concession in 2009. This is the result of investments made in the port of Pointe-Noire, which now attract major global shipping companies and make Congo a transhipment hub with more than 90% of volumes handled. The attractiveness of the container terminal has led us to invest in a new port platform at Môle Est with a view to doubling our capacity, capitalising on our geographical advantages and continuing to facilitate economic exchanges in the sub-region. This new platform, currently under construction, will be operational in 2027.” explains Anthony Samzun, Managing Director of Congo Terminal.

The AGPAOC is a sub-regional intergovernmental economic organisation comprising twenty-two regular member ports and nine associate members, including landlocked countries and maritime organisations, all located along the west coast of the African continent stretching from Mauritania to Angola.
