9th edition of the African Ports Awards: Pointe-Noire Port receives the award for best container transit at the African Ports Awards
In November 2025, the Port of Pointe-Noire received the award for best transit traffic in regional economic integration for the year 2024 during the 9th edition of the African Ports Awards held alongside the 45th Annual Council of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA). This award confirms the attractiveness of the Port of Pointe-Noire for the sub-region, due to the continuous investments made by Congo Terminal at the container terminal.
“Congo Terminal has already invested over 350 million euros in step 1 at the Pointe-Noire container terminal in the development of infrastructure, the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment, and staff training to make Pointe-Noire the ocean gateway to Central Africa. We are proud to see this goal recognized with this Award. With the additional 400 millions euros that we are currently investing in the new port platform at Môle Est, which constitutes step 2, we are convinced that Congo will strengthen its position as a transit country for the sub-region,” says Anthony Samzun, General Manager of Congo Terminal.
“We are proud of the public-private partnership established with Congo Terminal, which has led to this valuable achievement. We will continue to combine our efforts to ensure that the service to Pointe-Noire continues to be a key stopover for the shipowner,” said Séraphin Bhalat, CEO of the Port Authority of Pointe-Noire.
This award is given to the port of Pointe-Noire, when Congo Terminal is continuing its investment program at the container terminal. The company is building a new port platform at the East Mole to increase transit volumes and make the port of Pointe-Noire the reference deep-water port and the center of excellence for transshipment along the entire southern part of the West African coast.
