U.S. COAST GUARD CONCLUDES FOUR-DAY PORT SECURITY VISIT AT DAR ES SALAAM
The United States Coast Guard officially concluded its four-day port security visit to the Port of Dar es Salaam at the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) Headquarters.
The closing session was chaired by the Manager for Seafarers Training and Certification, Engineer Lameck Sondo on behalf of the Director General of TASAC. In his remark, he extended appreciation for the continued partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard.
“I acknowledge the valuable support of the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania, and all stakeholders who participated in the programme. I particularly commend Mr. Keith C. Heiru and Mr. Henry G. Dumphy for their outstanding contributions in sharing security best practices and strengthening local capacity through professional exchange. Such collaboration plays a vital role in improving Port Facility Security Plans (PFSPs) and reinforcing security measures across Tanzanian port facilities,” said Eng. Sondo.
In his concluding remarks, Engineer Sondo reaffirmed TASAC’s strong commitment to continued collaboration under the International Port Security (IPS) Programme. He emphasized that the constructive findings and recommendations from the U.S. Coast Guard will support the continuous improvement of port security in line with International Maritime Organization (IMO) instruments.
The U.S. Coast Guard representative, Mr. Henry Dumphy, expressed his sincere appreciation to the entire team for the warm welcome and the spirit of cooperation extended throughout the programme. He commended TASAC and all participating stakeholders for their openness, professionalism, and commitment to enhancing port security.
