HQ FLEET SEKONDI HOLDS VBSS TRAINING

A three-day Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) training was conducted from Wednesday, 21 January to Friday, 23 January 2026, at the Sekondi Naval Base. Facilitated by instructors from the Special Boat Squadron (SBS), the program aimed to enhance maritime operational capabilities.

The training formed part of the Fleet’s Collective Training initiative, integrating personnel through coordinated exercises. It focused on promoting interoperability and discipline among participants to ensure effective collaboration in real-world maritime operations.

The Flag Officer Fleet (FOF), Naval Captain John Bekuin-Wurapa, emphasised that the training would bolster operational security in the maritime domain. He urged participants to apply the acquired skills diligently in their official duties to maintain high standards.

Participants underwent theoretical sessions on VBSS principles, UNCLOS, use of force, weapon handling, evidence collection, and cabin entry. Practical components included in-harbour exercises and real-time sea scenarios, involving Ghana Navy Ships.
