  • Historically present in Africa, the CMA CGM Group is positioning its expertise closer to its customers across the continent.
  • Leveraging its multimodal expertise, the Group supports its customers’ supply chains through to the last mile throughout Africa.

The CMA CGM Group, a global player in maritime, land, air and logistics solutions, announces the relocation of its Africa regional office to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. This establishment symbolizes the CMA CGM Group’s commitment to the African continent and is accompanied by the rollout of new services aimed at enhancing service quality and meeting customer needs.

A Strengthened Regional Office at the Heart of Africa

CMA CGM’s new Africa regional office, now based in Abidjan, relies on a team of dedicated experts working in close proximity to customers, partners and institutions. By consolidating key strategic functions, Commercial, Export Pricing, Customer Service, Intermodal and Equipment Management, CMA CGM is able to provide its customers with fast, agile and relevant solutions.

Thanks to this integrated structure, the Group effectively supports the continent’s economic dynamics, offering services covering the entire logistics chain, from maritime operations to inland depots, through to the development of efficient hinterland corridors.

The Africa regional office is under the responsibility of Adeline GABILLAUD, Vice President and Africa Regional Director, who brings nearly thirty years of international experience in maritime transport and logistics to the Group. Her in-depth knowledge of African markets, acquired over many years on the continent, is a key asset in supporting the CMA CGM Group’s ambition and growth.

CMA CGM, a Long-Term Partner Supporting African Economies

Present on the continent for more than 50 years, the CMA CGM Group stands out as a long-term partner with 91 offices across 54 countries, employing 3,400 staff members and operating 33 maritime services calling at more than 80 ports.

This longstanding presence is reflected in a structured maritime offering connecting Africa to major global markets, including:

  • Europe-Africa (EURAF), linking Europe (Northern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic) with key West and Central African markets, providing reliable and competitive weekly connections for African exporters and importers.
  • MIDAS 1, a weekly service linking West Africa to India, the Middle East and the Gulf by directly connecting ports such as Pointe-Noire, Tema and Apapa to the hubs of Jebel Ali, Mundra and
  • Nhava Sheva, thereby offering African shippers regular and competitive access to major Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
  • Asia-Africa services, providing direct weekly connections between Asia and African ports, including the Kilima service from Asia to East Africa and the WAX services serving major West African ports.

As a global port logistics player, the CMA CGM Group is also invested in eight container terminals across the African continent: in Nigeria (Lekki), Côte d’Ivoire (Abidjan), Cameroon (Kribi), Mauritania (Nouakchott and Nouadhibou), and Morocco (Tangier, Casablanca and Nador).

Building on the expertise of its intermodal division, as well as its subsidiary CEVA Logistics, a global player in contract logistics and multimodal transport, the CMA CGM Group supports its African customers with tailor-made end-to-end solutions, through to the last mile. This integrated approach optimizes flows and lead times and strengthens supply chain resilience in a context of rapid transformation in global trade.

CMA CGM Foundation

The Group’s Maritime and Logistics Expertise in Service of Humanitarian Aid and Education for All Founded in 2005 and chaired by Tanya Saadé Zeenny, the CMA CGM Foundation reflects the values of the CMA CGM Group and is committed to humanitarian aid and education for all. The Foundation operates worldwide, leveraging the maritime and logistics expertise of the CMA CGM Group. In Côte d’Ivoire, the CMA CGM Foundation carries out concrete initiatives in support of education, notably through its partnership with the Magic System Foundation, which has enabled the opening of two schools, providing sustainable access to education and contributing to the development of skills among younger generations. The CMA CGM Foundation also intervenes during humanitarian crises by mobilizing the Group’s resources, notably through the PharmaBox—an innovative logistics solution developed in partnership with Action Against Hunger—ensuring the safe storage of medicines in humanitarian crisis areas. One PharmaBox has already been deployed in the Central African Republic, and two others are currently being transported to Sudan and Chad. Through these actions, the CMA CGM Foundation illustrates the Group’s commitment to placing its logistics expertise at the service of high social-impact projects, in Africa and around the world.
