Egypt – Debating ports’ development to support maritime transport system at South Sinai governorate
Admiral/ Mohamed Abd ElReheem, head of Red Sea port authority has debated with admiral/ Ismail kamal, South Sinai governor means of developing seaports in the governorate, first of which is Nuweiba port and Taba port that is currently established, and ways of supporting maritime transport in the governorate
Within this framework comes Taba port project. a new step to convert Sinai into a logistic hub; being one of the promising strategic projects that targets enhancing the governorate status as an important center for maritime transport traffic and regional trade.
Also, they have debated Nuweiba’ seaport developmental plan and raising its operational efficiency in a way that participates in improving passengers and trucks’ entrance and departure and provides with distinguished logistic services, in addition to reviewing New Taba port implementation status, and what it represents as an important addition for supporting maritime transport system at the governorate
Moreover, they have discussed the development of the trucks’ waiting yard at Nuweiba’ city, and how to be linked with Taba city waiting yard, in a way that participates in organizing transport traffic and lessening congestions and raising efficiency of provided services for the drivers and port’s dealers
The governor has assured on the importance of maximizing benefit from the available resources and achieving integration between the governorate different ports; in a way that supports the state’s efforts in activating tourist and trade traffic, and enhances South Sinai status being an important logistic hub.
He also stressed on the necessity of overcoming any obstacles that might confront the developmental works, and on continuous coordination between all concerned bodies, to ensure rapid projects’ implementation according to specific time schedules and with highest quality criteria, in a way that makes a leap in standards of maritime ports provided services.
