AUC Chairperson visited the Seychelles Coast Guard, the Regional Coordination Operations Centre (RCOC), & the National Information Sharing & Coordination Centre (NISCC)

During his visit to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, visited the Seychelles Coast Guard, the Regional Coordination Operations Centre (RCOC), & the National Information Sharing & Coordination Centre (NISCC) where he was received by H.E. Mr. James CAMILLE, Minister for Homeland Security & Civil Affairs

He received briefings on their critical role in advancing maritime security, combating piracy, illicit trafficking & illegal fishing, while strengthening regional information sharing & operational coordination.

The Chairperson commended these institutions as strong examples of the power of collective action, innovation & partnership in safeguarding Africa’s maritime domain. He noted that their expertise & best practices can further strengthen maritime governance & security cooperation across the continent, support safer global sea lanes, & unlock the blue economy’s potential for the benefit of Africa and the wider international community.

He also underscored their strong alignment with the AU’s maritime strategy and the Lomé Charter.
