Strengthening Cooperation between Customs Administrations and the Regional Maritime Security Architecture (RMSA)

The Regional Maritime Information Fusion Centre (RMIFC) is taking part in a regional workshop organized by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) under the Safe Seas Africa Programme, aimed at strengthening cooperation between customs administrations and the Regional Maritime Security Architecture (RMSA).

The first day of the workshop focuses on the analysis of illicit maritime trafficking in the Western Indian Ocean, counter-narcotics efforts, customs intelligence, risk analysis, and maritime information sharing.

The RMIFC contributes its expertise in maritime information fusion and sharing, Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), and regional cooperation, thereby enhancing coordination between customs administrations and maritime security stakeholders.

Through these discussions, participants are working together to strengthen a more effective regional response to transnational maritime threats and to promote a safer and more secure Western Indian Ocean.
