GHANA NAVY SHIP (GNS) ACHIMOTA COMPLETES REGIONAL MARITIME SECURITY OPERATION IN LIBERIA

Ghana Navy Ship (GNS) ACHIMOTA has completed its participation in Op ANOUANZE 4, a regional maritime-security operation officially held from Monday 24 to Thursday 27 August 2026.

The deployment demonstrates Ghana’s continued commitment to working with neighbouring countries to promote safety, security and cooperation across the region’s waters.

During the operation, GNS ACHIMOTA travelled through the waters of Côte d’Ivoire and Liberia, working closely with maritime authorities and partner navies. The crew conducted routine patrols and monitoring activities, supporting efforts to keep the maritime environment safe and secure.

In Liberia, the Ship took part in the closing ceremony of Operation ANOUANZE 4 alongside senior government, military and maritime-security representatives from participating countries and regional organisations.

The Ship’s crew, led by the Commanding Officer, Commander Kofi Amponsah Duodu, paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Ambassador to Liberia, His Excellency Godwin Baletum Amonzem, and hosted a reception for diplomats, partner organisations, members of participating countries, and Ghanaians resident in Liberia.

The Ship also welcomed members of the Ghanaian community in Liberia and guests on board, allowing them to learn more about the Ghana Navy and its work.

These engagements were to strengthen goodwill, reinforce bilateral relations, and project the positive image of Ghana Navy.

GNS ACHIMOTA returned safely to Sekondi Harbour on Monday 31 August 2026, bringing to a close a successful mission that reaffirmed Ghana’s role in promoting peace, safety and security in the Gulf of Guinea.
