Liberia – LiMA Lauds China’s Push For Smooth Sailing In Strait of Hormuz
The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has welcomed recent diplomatic efforts by China aimed at restoring stability and freedom to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, following a courtesy visit by its Commissioner/CEO, Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr, to the Embassy of China in Liberia.
During the engagement, discussions centered on the growing concerns around maritime safety, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding shipping corridors. The visit highlighted peace initiatives to de-escalate tensions and ensure the protection of critical international shipping routes.
LiMA aligned with global efforts to safeguard maritime security and safety as well as protecting commercial vessels and crew members. These efforts ensures the safe and uninterrupted passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
LiMA further underscored that thousands of vessels under its registry depend on these vital sea lanes for global trade.
Commissioner Lighe reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to international maritime safety standards and stressed that peace in the region is essential not only for global commerce but also for the protection of seafarers.
The Liberia Maritime Authority therefore welcomes and fully supports any diplomatic initiative which is aimed at protecting international shipping. LiMA remains committed to working with international partners on the safety of navigation across all global maritime routes.
