Egypt Highlights Its Maritime Integrity Efforts at the MACN Members Meeting in Athens

A delegation from the Maritime Transport & Logistics Sector (MTLS), headed by Rear Admiral Osama Hussein El-Sayed Negm, Deputy Head of MTLS for Ports Affairs, participated in the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) Members Meeting. The meeting was held from 29 to 30 April 2026 in Athens, Greece. This participation comes within the framework of activating the cooperation protocol signed between MTLS and MACN, and reinforcing Egypt’s efforts to promote governance, transparency and integrity in maritime ports.

The MACN Members Meeting is considered one of the leading global platforms addressing maritime integrity, bringing together government representatives, major shipping companies, port operators, and international stakeholders to exchange best practices, review progress, and strengthen cooperation across maritime supply chains.

During the meeting, a dedicated one-hour session was allocated to Egypt, reflecting the growing international recognition of Egypt’s efforts in enhancing integrity at the port level. The Egyptian delegation delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting key achievements and decisive measures implemented across Egyptian ports to promote transparency and combat corruption.

The presentation highlighted practical steps taken by MTLS, including the designation of focal points across ports, strengthening reporting mechanisms, disseminating awareness materials, and advancing the digitalization of port procedures. These measures have contributed to reducing human intervention, improving operational efficiency, and positively influencing international integrity indicators.

Furthermore, the session emphasized the importance of translating government policies into day-to-day operational practices through close cooperation between public authorities and industry stakeholders, ensuring sustainable and effective integrity frameworks within port operations.

This participation reflects Egypt’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its international presence and reaffirm its commitment to the highest standards of governance, transparency, and operational excellence, further enhancing the global competitiveness and reputation of Egypt.
